Artwork Scanning for Artists.

Gold Coast's Fine Art Printing & Scanning Studio.

We offer professional artwork scanning for artists, specialising in high-resolution digitisation of original artworks for fine art printing, archival documentation, and reproduction. Our process is designed to carefully capture colour, texture, and detail while ensuring the safe handling of original works.

When creating prints from your original artwork, it's imperative to start with an exceptional file. That's where we come in. We scan your original artwork at a true optical resolution of 600 pixels per inch, this enables your art to be enlarged up to four times its original size.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about artwork scanning.

Can you scan large artworks?
Yes — we can scan artworks up to 2 metres. For anything unusually large, get in touch and we'll talk through the best approach for your piece.
Will the colours match my original?
Colour accuracy is our priority. For Full Service scans we work until the file is an exceptional match to your original — we proof it on fine art paper before we finalise. For Basic scans we apply standard colour correction that will be a close match for most works.
What files will I receive?
With a Basic or Full Service scan you'll receive a master TIFF, a high res JPEG, low-res JPEG and an A4 proof printed on fine art paper. With a Raw Scan you receive the unprocessed TIFF only.
How long does it take?
Turnaround times typically range from 7 - 14 days depending on our workload and the time of year. Full Service scans take a little longer due to the retouching and proofing involved. If you're working to a deadline just let us know — we'll always do our best to accommodate you if a quick turn around is needed.
My painting is varnished — will that affect the scan?
Varnish, particularly high gloss varnish, can cause reflections and glare that affect colour accuracy in the scan. For the best possible result we recommend scanning your artwork before varnishing. If your work is already varnished let us know when you book and we'll do our best to work around it — but unvarnished artwork will always give you a more accurate result.
Do I need to visit the studio in person?
No — many of our clients post their artwork from interstate. If you're on the Gold Coast you're very welcome to drop in to our Mermaid Beach studio. Either way works perfectly.
Scanning vs photographing — what's the difference?
Our professional flatbed scanner captures artwork at a consistent, calibrated resolution across the entire piece with no lens distortion or uneven lighting. For most artworks flatbed scanning produces a more accurate result than photography and results in a file that can be enlarged much bigger then a photograph.
Can I post my artwork to you?
Absolutely — we receive artworks in the post from artists all over Australia. Pack it well, include your name, artwork title, return address and contact details, and send us your tracking number so we can keep an eye out.
What mediums can you scan?
We scan oil paintings, acrylics, watercolours, pencil works, ink drawings, mixed media, highly textured artworks and more. If you're not sure whether your medium is suitable, just ask before you book.
Can you scan at higher than 600 DPI?
Yes — we can scan at up to 1200 DPI on request. This is useful for very detailed works, small originals being enlarged significantly, or archival purposes. Just let us know when you book.
